I was born in Cobleskill, New York, the youngest of three children to parents of Afro-Caribbean desent. I was raised in a variety of places including different locations in upstate New York and Nigeria, West Africa. I completed my undergraduate work at the State University of New York at Brockport. I purchased my first piece of real estate shortly after graduation. While living in Rochester, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, I bought and sold properties for personal gain and use. In 2003, I married Major Coleman. Being mature adults who enjoy scuba diving, we looked to the Caribbean for opportunities. As we searched the U.S. Virgin Islands stood out as it affords us the ability to remain under the U.S. Flag. I combined my life long interest in real estate, sales experience and the law and became a RE/MAX Broker. In February of 2010, I launched my own firm, Van Blake-Coleman Realty. St. Thomas has met us with open arms and we have immersed ourselves completely. I was a board member for several years, working on the establishment of an affiliate branch of Habitat for Humanity. We partnered with the community to make affordable housing available. I am currently serving on the Virgin Islands Territorial Board of Directors, I am President Elect of the St. Thomas Board of Realtors and chair the Grievance committee.
